The three-master "Belem" was built in Nantes (France) in 1896.
The Belem wa ordered so as to transport cocoa and sugar.
Capital of the State of Para in Brazil, the town of Belem will become
the main destination for the ship.
"She is a famous three-masted ship,
slim as a bird... " 406 tons and 58 meters in length. After the world war one
she was sold to the duke of Westminster, then to the beer baron Arthur E. Guiness,
then to the Count Vittorio Cini, in Venezia. On 27th January of 1979 she
comes back to her original French flag and the Belem, thanks to the
"Belem Foundation" is now a training ship for all.
